1. Animals, including humans, have the ability to move to new places if their needs are not met. Many animals spend part of the year in one place and then migrate to another place when conditions become too harsh or the needed food or shelter is not available. Migrations can occur over immense distances. 2. During migrations, some organisms may stray or get lost and reconnect with another group in a different area. Straying may serve to bring new genes to the new group enhancing survival chances. |
